Not the Voluntary Load Data which warranted an extra fee & this one passed thru the Frankfurt proof facility so it was more than like made by Collath? The Frankfurt proof facility was under the Collath roof or umbrella @ one time.

Interesting that he advertises as „Manufactur" instead of Büchsenmacher or possibly Hersteller?? Maybe Wolfgang can shed some light on it?

One of the nicest shotguns I’ve ever seen is a Bartels.

It looks like a post war rework, well done, but the front clawmount base is not usually dovetailed directly into the rib. The 8x58R S&S was a pretty popular caliber between the wars but was made obsolete in the Nazi era.

As Raimey asked:

The Bartels company operated under the name "Waffenmanufaktur" until 1969.

Waffenmanufaktur Bartels

The "Manufactur" is not unusual and is often used by small gunsmiths to emphasise the handmade nature of their weapons against the industrially produced ones. A prominent example is Theo Jung, who also called himself a manufactur. His successor took this over:

Many thanks for the insight Wolfgang. I am highly confident that Bartels did not make this longarm. Not exactly sure, but I believe he was pass Suhl enroute to the Frankfurt on the Oder proof facility?

F.J. Bartels hung out his gunmaking shingle in 1893 but his predecessor reaches back to circa 1866.
