Hey Raimey the Suhl no name gun I posted a while back( https://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=577354#Post577354) with the mystery K mark ( actually found 2 with same barrel knitter and K mark)
A new one popped up at 16ga.com with same K and barrel knitter but this one is an E. Kerner? Does this mean K is for Kerner?

I don't believe the K is for Kerner, rather I believe it is for one of the several barrel makers with a last name starting with K. Emil Kerner put his name on the top of the barrels. One son was with Emil Kerner and Sohn and his other son Ernst was an independent maker.

Thanks looks like that k guy worked with the same barrel knitters frequently. Maybe he worked for Helmuthhauser?

Yeah, or Haenel. Single letters are difficult to track but it would represent a tube mechanic like Kelber, Klett,......

What's even more intriguing are the tubeset knitter's initials >>M.D.<<. And I am highly confident, say 3 Sigma or 99%, that it was Gewehrlaufhandlung - Maximilian Doerr.

Too, the König family comes to mind BUT they practiced their craft in Zella - Mehlis, Adolf König and Heinrich König. Me thinks Willi König was in that merry band also.

Yeah, Gebhard Helmuthhauser / Gebhard Helmuthäuser / Gebhard Hellmuthäser or Gebhard Helmuthäuser who evidently worked @ Haenal.

>>Yes indeed. A Zella Sankt Blasii - Mehlis example from September 1923.

One sees that stamp on wares from Hänel where they were completed by the most competent mechanic Gebhard Helmuthhauser / Gebhard Helmuthäuser or Gebhard Helmuthäuser who was listed @ Bergstraße 1 or Gebhard Helmuthhauser / Gebhard Helmuthäuser or Gebhard Helmuthäuser was sourced for the tube work. I am not sure on the single >>K<<.<<

https://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=577354&page=5

But on this thread it is possible that the single K could be König. Difficult to say.

In difficult times like the 1920s, you could easily see cross sourcing between gunmaking centres for components. But a single K is difficult to attribute as there were hosts of K mechanics.
