I just took delivery of this MVA scope. It will be used for long range Creedmoor shooting on my Sharps M77 and maybe occasionally on my 85 Winchester. It is a beautiful piece of equipment. It is 8x.

Yes, that is a Lyman STS scope box which will serve until I make a new custom box for the MVA.

My custom (not for me - I just bought it as it was) Winchester Hi-Wall in .219 Zipper Improved wears a 12x Unertl. It works fine. Those old scopes hold their own for most uses, except for truly low light situations or those where you want to "adjust" the zero in the field.

I'd rate the old scopes like Unertls, Feckers, Winchesters and Lymans among the very best to adjust in the field. Nothing easier than turning the knobs.

I love Unertl anything. Many years ago I began shooting NMLRA competition matches, from GA to Friendship, IN. I realized I needed a really good spotting scope and called one of the largest Unertl dealers in the USA. He said I couldn't get the spotting scope I wanted because the military was buying them all. He asked me what I wanted it to do. I replied that I wanted a spotting scope that would resolve a .22 cal. bullet hole in the black at 200 yards. He said "that doesn't exist, but this is as close as it gets". He shipped me a 20X Unertl that exceeded my expectations.

Good glass is almost breathtaking.

May God bless America and those who defend her.
