Pre-Salt vintage. Late 50's preferred. flat hunter rib preferred. RK/LT only, 14 1/4" LOP to buttplate preferred ( 13 7/8" to 14" to end of wood). With 28" barrels. Standard or Lightening. Ungraded/grade 1 or possibly pigeon grade. 1 1/2 X 2/1/2 stock drops.

Only looking for one that fits the above criteria. To be an occasional, fun sporting clays gun. My AyA #2RA currently fills the 20 Ga role. An 1899 WR Drop Lock fills the occasional 12 Ga role. A 12 Ga Winchester 21 handles the heavy lifting chores.

PM if you have one that you want to move on

Am I mistaken or does this fill the bill.

"Not Far From New Cond"
I'm thinking probably not.

Thanks, Bob.

I've sent an inquiry on that shotgun.

Reach out to Kevin McCormack. I think he has one for sale. PS. he's on the Parker site most often. It has a solid rib as I recall. Also solid rib.

The gunsinternational listing is about as good a 20 gauge as you can find. The butt has been messed with, probably sanded flat for a recoil pad, buttplate screws are mismatched and the buttplate may not be horn, don't know. A horn buttplate will probably cost you more than 50 bucks, but will be worth it.

Stock appears to have been cut down. According to the seller the LOP is 13 3/4". Normal LOP was 14 1/4". The butt plate is proud of the wood now.

Also, it seems like I need to look for a 60's gun in order to find stock drops that work for me. According to THE book on p 241, Browning used 1 5/8' X 2 1/2" drop for both 12 and 20 gauge guns until the early 60's. Then the 20 ga stocks were changed to 1 1/2" X 2 1'2". The LOP was unchanged at 14 1'4". Wish I had known this earlier.

My measured drops for a flat rib gun are 1 3/8" X 2 1/8". My SXS's are all real close to those measurements. The one I shoot best has those measurements exactly along with a LOP of 14 3/4" with double triggers.

A gun with 1 5/8" X 2 1/2" and a flat rib will shoot too low and there is too much adjustment needed for stock bending to work.

Nuts.

Wow,
First year examples seem to be drawing a premium!

I spent a year trying to find a higher condition 20 ga 26" Belgium gun without a cut stock at a price I was willing to pay. I found plenty of them in the mid twenties, and cut stock guns in the teens. I Finally got one at a good price because other bidders were sleeping when the auction ended at 3 AM.

I have a 26” Belgium Lightning round knob in original condition. Seldom shot it since M/F. Think I paid $1600 for it several years back since I did not have one and coveted them since the ad inside every hook and bullet mag had them at 325 when the A5 was less than 200. I gather from this post that it may be worth more? Really should be no surprise since so many newer junk Guns bring so much.
