Yeah, the wood is nice. The whole gun is a good find. I was lucky ... the seller had to sell, it was her dads shotgun. She wanted it gone quick and I was happy to oblige. The checkering still bites a bit in the hand. It looks and feels like a new gun.

Do you know if Rosson used the Smith patent assisted opening system?

Yes, the easy-opening system used by Rosson was the Smith system

It is discussed in Shotgun Technicana chapter 6


PS same as in some E.J. Churchill guns, my 1937 Coronation Model easy opener, is sweet.
