Anyone familiar with these tip off style rings and mounts from Leupold? They are elevation and windage adjustable.

I am somewhat familiar, I have a set that I've never mounted but I have looked into them.
Here is a link to the patent

Leupold patent

Leupold made a scope called the Pioneer with no adjustments for windage and elevation. The mounts were meant
to be used for scopes like that.

If I recall correctly to adjust the elevation, you had to remove the scope and turn a screw in the base, hence the elaborate structure
of the rings.

I found a couple Shultz and Larson rifles using those rings with the old B&L external adjustment scopes.
Quite a bit of work went into those rings.
Now I just need to verify if the 52b stamp is for a 52b Winchester.

Thanks,
Ken

I did some googling yesterday and found this site which has a list of which bases go with which rifles

Leupold lists

Your mounts are adjusto mounts and according to the 1963 list, they are for a post-war Winchester Model 70.

Had a similar set on a 54 Winchester Hornet at one time. As I recall they were a pain in the butt to adjust.
