My friend just picked up his MX8 today and it came with a set of extended Perazzi factory choke tubes. Never seen that before.
So we were trying to figure out the ckoke measurements as they were listed in numbers, like 4,5 etc.
Can someone help me interpret this?

Perazzi choke codes are a bit obscure.

0 = Cylinder
1 = Cylinder
2 = Imp Cyl
3 = Imp Cyl
4 = Mod
5 = Mod
6 = IM
7 = IM
8 = Full
9 = Full
10 = XFull
11= XFull

As noted there are gradations of choke within each category. That is, loose modified vs tight modified. Perazzi also uses a stamp on fixed choke barrels. Example, 00 on top barrel is Full, 0000 on bottom barrel is Modified.

Those markings are meant to be at 1/10mm. 4/10 mm, 5/10 mm etc. Round numbers, multiply by 4 and divide by 100. 4/10mm = .016” (mod), 5/10 mm= .020” (1/2) etc. There are 25.4 mm/ inch, so this isn’t exact and measuring with a bore gauge will correct any manufacturing tolerance issues.

The only way to know is to measure each one with a bore gauge and compare the dims to the bore diameter.

May God bless America and those who defend her.

My MX8/Mirage is a type 2 choke system. I have measured all of the chokes and marked the results BUT shooting a few patterns show that tighter patterns seem to prevail. I shoot a #4 = mod (.24) and can break MANY 27 yard clays and use it for the first barrel on ZZ.s. I like a #1 and #2 for skeet (.13, .20)
