I believe it was done by John Warren. Rifle was stocked by Lenard Brownell. Edit: Looks to have likely been a German done floor-plate ordered through Paul Yaegers shop.

I agree, it looks very well done. Post more pictures of the rifle if you can. It looks like a beauty.

Nice work.
That same running Pronghorn figure has been done so many times over by different engravers over the yrs, the orig artist who ever he/she is may be owed
a handsome sum if copyright is in effect.

Here's another with the image flipped on a custom stocked and engraved Ruger#1 from Paul Jaeger's shop in the 70's'
Click on and enlarge the right side closeup pic
Attributed to Dietrich Apel, but I don't recall him being an engraver as well. Jaeger's used to send a lot of the engraving work back to Germany.

Auction Ended..

Kutter,
You are correct, Dietrich was not an engraver, but had connections to engravers in Germany.

Found the same engraving, less the inlay, on a Paul Jaeger “Super Grade” that’s currently for sale. My guess would be that Lenard Brownell had a 1962 Paul Jaeger catalog in his shop.
