I believe I read that the Newton rifles were built with the same barrel threads as the 1903 Springfield as Newton also offered to convert your '03 to a Newton cartridge. If I have my story straight, did this barrel thread continue through all of the Newton models? That is, the 1916 as well as the 1924.

Secondly, is there anyone who would be considered a "Newton 'smith"? I'd like to get some work done on two of mine and would prefer to send it to somebody who has the knowledge and, hopefully parts, to do things right.

Thank you for any input!

Yes, the barrel threads on the First Model Newton and the Springfield are the same. The barrel dimensions are identical and I once measured and compared the Springfield and Newton receivers side by side with calipers. Dimensions of the receivers were virtually identical. The later ( Buffalo Newton) barrels were identically dimensioned to the Original First Model Newton but I never had the occasion to compare receivers
