I think leave as is, after some careful cleaning. It is all part of its past. What would be gained that could not be done later? JMO.

I forgot to show this: I've shot it now and it shoots to the sights at 100 And 200. I'll need a taller front sight for normal 22 range.

That's a great little rifle, and I too would leave it as is.

Leave it as it is, then you have an excuse to buy a nice .303 when you happen on one (and you can probably say it was cheaper than getting this one reconverted).

Maybe this little 2.5 power 22mm tube Kahles scope would work. The base could be soft soldered to the barrel. The see through mount would permit the irons to be used.

With the scope so high, I think it would be very awkward to shoot with a scope. We have this problem in BPCR to a lesser degree because the rifles are designed for irons and adapting them to scopes is a bit less than ideal.

I'd leave it as a .22 also. Sounds like it shoots perfectly as a 22 and besides , shooting that slim little rifle in 303 can't be too pleasent.
The high mounting of the scope wouldn't bother me especially on a .22. But the base being left attached on the bbl when the scope was dismounted would. It would really take away from the nice lines of the orig rifle. So I'd leave the Kahles off, but then I'm not much of a scope guy anyway.
Beautiful little rifle.

Neat rifle! And that is one long tang
Can you share some details, like weight and barrel length?

Nice looking piece. Action looks like a H&H Rook rifle (Ross model) I once owned. Might be a a size larger, hard to tell? They were supplied by Tranter, I believe. I’d convert it back.

I'm not sure that it can be converted back to 303. I don't know if anyone makes a .311 liner. You would need to turn down a barrel blank. Then there are the matters of 303 pressures on the liner barrel, and the issue of securing the liner in place. Questions for a qualified gunsmith.

What are the pressures of a .303 like? I assume they are a higher than a .30-30, but by how much?
