Picked this one up at local gun estate, looked like an early cape gun, but double rifle, and this one is massive. 38.5 inch barrels, over 60 caliber with circular rifling. Metal underneath wood is completely unmarked. Has “Reichenbach” one one side plate. Single trigger fires hammers separately or both at once. Any ideas on maker? Bore is .62 inches or 15.7 millimeters

There was a Fahner and Fahner & Walther in Reichenbach, but they were about 100 years after this example.

Eiting & Compagnie of Hochdorf-Reichenbach might be the culprit.

I'll try to get some fotos up....

Some astute minds think it might be ole Swiss Büchsenmacher Reichenbach in Saanen???? Looks like those Swiss applies their dies in reverse or mirror??

It might be worth contacting Balzas ( the presenter on Capandball YouTube).

He has just done a piece on the Swiss 1841 Sharpshooters Rifle, which looks to be of similar vintage, and was made by various makers on a Cantonal basis.

He might recognise the makers name or style.
