Another rifle in my favorite German caliber - 11.2x72 Schuler

I just added a 4th 11.2x72 Schuler caliber rifle to the family. Although this one is marked "A.Jansen", it is likely made by Schuler.
This is one wonderful rifle. Hope to have a field test later this week.

specs are:

Mauser 98 Action
11.2x72 Schuler caliber - 1 up 4 down
Double triggers
26-1/4" barrel - Octagon to round
Full Length Matted Rib
3 Leaf Rear Site - one standing / two Folding
Silver Bead Front Site
8 pounds 12 ounces
14-1/4" LOP
Red Silvers Recoil Pad
made in 1927

Looks like the tube was sourced or made @ Hänel or by Helmuthhauser - Hellmuthhäuser/Helmuthhäuser

The only German mechanic that used the Heart stamp was Emil Eckoldt.

Hello Raimey,
thanks for the info ... any idea what the SW stamp above the heart means?

Have you put a Glass on it? Is it really >>SW<<??? >>Suhler Waffenkunst<< is about the only guess I can muster on that.

But I think it is a Script E.W. ; maybe for Emil Weiß?? There are other possibilities like E. Werner; Ernst Wolf, Ewald Wolf; Ewald Wahl & a few others. Really need to narrow the mechanic to either Suhl or Zella - Mehlis, & I think the latter.

Too, I would like to see a better foto of these marks? Is it a poorly stamped >>B<< or a>>P<<?? If indeed >>B<< then it was proofed in the final state.

Take Ernst Stoll, he advertised as a Rifle Barrel Compagnie but up till say WWI, he either sold or sourced barrels from Hänel. So, considering marks & the retailer, it could be considered an all Suhl weapon where only Suhl mechanics were sourced.

Well, back from the range today ... although many are skeptical about this cartridge. I once again proved that you can get a 2400+ fps with the 11.2x72 Schuler cartridge.

I shoot 2 1/2" .410s in my Sauer 11.15X65 drilling. It makes a great three barrel shotgun. Will your new 11.2X72 chamber a .410 shell? I don't know whether your cartridge is rimmed or rimless.

I have plenty 11.2x72 brass - so no need to try .410s. Also the 11.2x72 cartridge is made to fit in a standard length mauser action with a standard bolt face - therefore it has a rebated rim.
