Just to set the record straight:
The vast majority of second and third generation Americans forefathers immigrated here legally.

I 'kinda doubt the alien that finds himself employed here in the states starts pricing Purdeys the next day. Heck, I make a little bit MORE than minimum wage, and I don't even look at really good guns.
Funny, everytime I had to move on from a job ( plenty, in recent years, and, it hasn't ever been my fault) I always ended up far better off when it was all over. It didn't seem like it going in, but, it has always ended up that way. And, I've noted in the folks around me, that the same ones always end up crying in their beer over how unfair everything is, and how its always some vague enemy (aliens, etc.) that are causing all the problems they suffer.
Whatever.
Best,
Ted

There are many things out there to collect. I'm into wine and boutique wooden game calls now. Expensive (5k+) guns don't elicit warm and fuzzy feelings in me. If I didn't own O/U game gun all I would need is Franchi 48AL or Benelli 'Montefeltro' with mod tube in the barrel.
I have been in this country for over 20 years, it used to be a better place, but.... I'm ready to pack my bags and head over to GB and that quaint little 600k home.

The reason people are having to pay for Wendy's with a credit card is because they are out of work or making minimum wage and can't afford to pay cash. And why would someone want to pay for gas with a credit card and pay higher interest with gas as high as it has been? And if unemployment is down, why are GM, Ford, Protor & Gamble and umteen other large companies closing down plants or downsizing and laying people off or buying out their contracts? And why are so many people in the US losing their homes because they can't pay their mortgage? You need to start reading the papers or watching the news. And eeb, I've got news for you, for the past thirty years college graduates have gone without jobs because they are told they are overqualified. Or they have taken jobs that don't pertain to their degrees because their salaries would have been less. I only worked in a steel mill for thirty years to see so many college grads working below me because they wanted to make $75,000 a year instead of $25,000 as a teacher or some other job. That's why there haven't been college jobs fulfilled since the 70's. You guys are only thinking about today. You'd better start thinking about what you're going to be doing twenty years from now.

The subject matter wandered a bit, but I went back to the first post which indicated that 20 or 30 guns are still on the rack in a Nebraska shop after months and last year they would all be gone. I doubt the poster's assessment of the quality of the guns there now compared to the ones that "would have sold" last year. This year's crop is obviously crap or overpriced. Good guns don't just sit there if priced correctly.

Just back from the Midland Game Fair. One dealer has been selling a lot of stuff at auction that he couldn't shift retail.

He was very pleased that he had just received £10,000 for a gun he sold at Holts that he had been prepared to take £5,000 for.

The buyers are there and they have the cash, you just need to get the stuff in front of the right people.

I went to a gunshow in PA on Saturday. There were somewhere in the range of 600 booths. I saw maybe 30 sxs of which half were overpriced and few if any in decent condition. The other half had "machine made" stamped on the actions. They were in terrible conditon. Someone must have found an old barn full of these.

So many guns, so little time!

By the right people, I hope you don't mean, "the right people" do ya?
Most of the right(snooty) people I know, would have offered-up 4,500 GBP and still have called him and ol' sod for taking advantage of the rich!

No offense but steel mill workers, auto workers and garbage men making 75K a year is why so many of our jobs have gone overseas.
