I remember seeing an Arrieta catalog that had a heavier SXS, for competition. It may have been a #601?. Has anyone ever had any experience with these?. How much would they weigh compared to a #578?

The two AyA mo. # 56 I've handled have been very nice as heavy pigeon guns. I think WLM had a 601 Arrieta about a month ago, but cannot recall much about it.

You might contact Jack Jasma ( wingshooting adventures), I'm sure he can give you a complete rundown on Arrietas.

KMcMichael,

If you are after a heavy sxs for competition, the AYA Nº56 is the one that come first amongst the Spanish hand made shotguns. There are five AYA distributors in the US that might help you.

Regards, EJ.

Gerald, I understand whay you meant now. I did post to your other thread. I must disagree with you on my extensive experience with my AYA. I understand that it is only one gun but it has been great.

I believe all Spanish guns are the same if you pay the same. I like Arrieta because of many of thier free options is what I like, so I have purchased more of those.

I did check with John Boyd regarding the 601. He replied that it is only 4 ounces heavier. That is not heavy enough for me. I am restocking a Sterlingworth at the moment and hope that is will suit my needs.

Would they make it heavier if you requested. Noticed on another board where Arrieta made a 7 1/2 pound Model 570 in 20 gauge when requested to do so.

I have a friend who is having a 3" Arrieta duck gun built. It is a three fastener gun and he's hoping to take delivery in June. This is a one off gun.

I know that Grulla makes them as well if you ask. I had a Grulla and it was a very well made gun. It impressed a couple of English smiths that examined the gun. There is a great article on them in the latest DGJ.
