Dave I see your point but she offered the gun at a price. She didn't ask for an appraisal or advice. If the buyer said "I will take it at the price you offered." then that is offer and acceptance of the offer. She wasn't misled into offering the gun at a low price by bad advice from the buyer - she named the price.
Best,
Mike

Mike, I can see your point, she wasn't misled or given bad advise, but also she said her Grandfather died in 1972 and that the note said the gun was worth 5K then. In my opinion Dave is right. She should have had it appraised, but ignorance is bliss.
Blue book of Gun Values 26th Edition lists the DH 28 ga. at 50% condition at $7,600, add 50-100% for ejectors depending on original condition. Now your over $10k for 50% condition.

I was actually going to point out the real value of said gun, and offer to help her sell it for something closer to its actual value. Just because interest was expressed does not mean every reply was looking to fleece the lady. I would enjoy helping her get something closer to its value and I have a friend that is a collector of upper grade Parkers and is also a board member. Steve

Well, if somebody got a great price, so be it. I'll bet it will be a hassle though, getting the gun shipped over here from Nigeria...Geo

LOL....that's the first thing I thought when I read the ad..scam alert. It might well be real but the ad is worded to appeal to the greedy, and the greedy are the best target for scammers.

I've always liked the New Yorker cartoon featuring two dogs playing on the computer. One says to the other, "No one knows you're a dog on the Internet."

Fred may not be lucky at all. More power to him though if deal works out!

I am sure gramps was a big time Parker collector. I think I saw a couple of his jewels go today on other boards
