I bought 3 LH wind series Perfects from Dan Dailey's emporium. They are, like Walkers, Vom Hoff and latetr on Bogdans and Fin-Nor wedding cake salt water reels, true Steinways..but a hot-rodded Plueger Medalist with the Bill Franke One-Pfooted reel foot- is like a Baldwin acrosonic spinet--I bought a few of my rods, in the 1980's "cane rod boom times" from Marty Keane, but he was open to some price negotiations as I found him a 1903 Mannlicher-Schoenaur .256 18" barrel (like Hemingway once had) to replace one apparently stolen and vanished without a trace. Not all cane rods had serial numbers, but most firearms do, but Marty never recorded the number on his rifle--I never did any business with Len Codella, apparently he took umbrage at a comment I once made about Orvis impregnated bamboo rods- that they were made to last, but not to cast. Oh well!! RWTF

The impregnated stuff always felt "heavy" to me. I'm sure the Orvis rods were fine and we sold several examples but...I never fished one.

Foxy remembers when Martin Keane sold a few classic firearms mixed in with the fishing equipment. I wish I had taken advantage of some of the Parkers he advertised in the sixties.
