Maybe someone other than you or I and knowledgeable in German will translate it. BTW I never balked at the sights being regulated to "paces". Russian sights were similar.

I was trying to run down the pool of possible engravers and Mr. Neuberger gives that JSE used engravers Doris Seidler, who was the wife of an JSE employee, Matzinger, Winkler and any contract engraver in Ferlach.

Too, after Denk perfected his craft at distances much greater than the typical assuming range of 25-30 paces for Pistols, one could join the >>Wiener Schützenvereines bestätigt den Empfang des Mitgliedsbeitrages<<, Vienna Gun Club for 6.5 Florins / Zloty(1896) and ride the Omnibus with Denk and witness his magic with the Pistol. Viennese Gunsmiths Wurzinger, Postler, Kretschmer, Denk und Dörfler, along with Josef Schulhof broke the noose/stigma on the Target Pistol range extending the Pistol Target capability to 400 paces and Schulhof extended it even further to 600 paces, recording 73%. So any, any of those Vienna Target Pistols that can be acquired are would be Gems. The might of put Quigley & Sharps out of business????

35 years ago when we were on our farm I had two, 500 yard ranges, depending on which pasture the cows were in. My oldest son and I regularly shot revolvers at 500 yards. With a steady back rest with the revolver supported between your knees, just as Keith describes, and you learned how much front sight to hold up, hits on a 2' X 3' steel target ran 3-4 out of a 6 shot cylinder with an occasional 6 for 6. Back then that called for a little celebration and a draught of "Ol' Group Tightener". The two revolvers we used most were a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt and a Colt New Frontier in 44 Spl. Both carried 7 1/2 inch barrels.

I am inclined to believe that with a single shot pistol results could be even better.

We didn't need a bus, we walked to my shooting bench, about 100 yards from the back door.

Interesting although I have never been a true wheelgun fan. Cattle do get in the way of the range quite often. But think of it this way: 125+ years ago without the Austro-Hungarians nor Elmer Keith in the mix, & with a wheelgun, you back up 10 to 20 times the current target distance and start bangin' on the short gun, how are onlookers going to view your sanity? Just a watershed moment when Pistols were taken to the extreme and not by the masses.
