Chuck H makes an imortant point:

I highly encourage planning ahead as much as practical to deal with this yourselves and not leave it to your widow to struggle with. 50 cents on the dollar when selling off a number of guns expeditiously is doing well."

....When we turn 60+, we ought to begin to thin out our collection, and not leave the ENTIRE dispersal task to our widow and friends. Keep the ones you actually use, but sell some of those that are seldom used. Let someone else share the joy of ownership.
