I think we're kind of straying from the original question. "Is the 1917 worth owning"? This pistol was admitedly a stop gap measure to make up for the 1911 45 shortage yet is was an officially procured an issued US military pistol. There are a lot of superior revovers that have been introduced since then without question but,at least to me, there's a certain nostalgia and romance in owning and shooting something of this vintage and historical era.
