IMO, that is pretty poor advice for at least two reasons. First, if your house is burglarized, and your "prominently displayed" guns are stolen, no amount of insurance can replace Grandaddy's Model 11, or Great-Grandaddy's hammer Parker. Secondly, when you call to place a claim for the burglarized guns, and they ask you to show them where the safe was broken into to get at the guns you mis-represented as having been locked in it, you will then be denied payment for not having them locked in it, or you will lie to them about why the safe isn't damaged from the break-in, which will constitute insurance fraud.

Get you the best safe you can find, or buy an old one like this and convert it into a gun safe for a few bucks. This one was gotten for the price of hiring a roll-back to move it. Then insure the guns to protect the ones that aren't locked in the safe.



That's about eight inches of door, and walls.
