Hoof, this looks like a typical Birmingham lower price range gun .Although it seems to have stood the test of time and looks to be if fair condition for its age . As to the "off center" breech pin ,with the cam type lever and the width of the top strap if you look you will see that if the breech pin was central it would not be possible to fit or remove it as the lever will not go far enough across and would cover part of the pin head . This again is typical of many guns of this type .
Have a close look at the engraving of the name I have seen numerous guns like this that have bee sold out with no name and one has been added later by a retailer .
