Could I recommend another book which I found to be extremely helpful in the Brit gun how and why sort of thing while giving a very good overview is Game Guns and Rifles by Richard Akehurst it is an early book and the illustration photographs are unfortunately in black and white but even so an interesting book.

The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!
