Ol'Jimmy followed in the Democrat tradition of enacting the largest tax increase in history up to that time. A tradition followed by Slick Willie, and Obama, if you count Obamacare and all his regulations. Intentional, sociopathic, bleeding of the private sector of Capital, and the massive increase of Government Debt.

What's it gotten us? Other than sociopathic vote-buying of power for the Democrats?
