Hello, I have a lot of Remington #57 primers and I want to use them to reload on modern shotsell cases.
As you know, the 57 primers are smaller in diameter, about 0.015", than a normal (#209) one.
My idea is to use a small ammount of heavy duty black silicon (the one used to make gaskets in motor parts) in the moment I put the primer inside the case, let it dry for a day and then reload as normal.
Do you think the silicon will resist the pressure and mantain the primer is place?
The gap is only about 0.007" around the primer and that space will be filled with the silicon stuff.
Do you see any potential danger doing this?

I know the best is to obtain old cases, with the smaller diameter in the primer pocket, but I been searching for years and do not find a single one here.

Yout advise will be apreciated.

Best,

Jose M. Fernandez
