Many folks think there is an inevitable delay between pulling the trigger and the gun going off with a flintlock. Actually, having any noticeable delay indicates that either the lock/touch-hole is poorly designed, or the shooter doesn't know how to load it properly. Having a half second delay on a turkey will likely mean the bird is a step or two away from where you were aiming when the ball arrives.
