I think that George McDonnell Fraser would approve. He created the "Flashman" series, maybe the greatest historical record of British imperial expansion from 1835 to 1914 ever written and certainly the most hilarious and bawdy. His book "Mr. American" congeals it all - the 114? different breakdowns of the upper classes, the pigeon shoots, fox hunts. ( Great painting Drew from an era gone-by - thanks).
