Now sure why it is called Nickel silver, there is no silver in it, it is an alloy of copper and nickel, and maybe some zinc.

It sure is difficult to saw cut, for some reason.


It's also called German silver, commonly used as inlays and furniture on muzzleloaders. I personally would not use it for a nice doublegun shield. It doesn't look the same, IMO. I'd use an old coin to make it, too, if I could not buy one ready made out of real (sterling) silver.
