Reaching back a little further in time, Belgium supplied the Yucatán for all their small gauge track needs in moving the >>Green Gold<< Henequen, which was transformed into rope, clothing, etc. Carts of Henequen were pulled by horse drawn carts along the small gauge rail & I myself have ridden quite a few miles on the same to visit local cenetoes for a cool dip as a respite from the heat. Cenetoes are caverns of water formed after the asteroid liquefied everything & set it back down, with fissures and crevasses abounding in all directions.
