OK, I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would offer a recent book that is likely to appeal to many members here: The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey,
by Candice Millard (2005).

While not a hunting book (in fact, they nearly starved), I suspect that, like me, many of you probably have a soft spot for Teddy Roosevelt. Actually, I only read this book becauuse someone sent me a free copy, but it turned out to be a very interesting read about Roosevelt's post-presidency exploration of a South American river which nearly killed him. Definitely a good read.
