Interesting. "Helice-Grip" was already a VC trademark as early as 1922, from their catalog for that year.

Concerning the "Helice" patent, I received a letter in 2002 from Claude Verney-Carron, president of the company. He wrote:

"Helice was the name of the locking system patented by my great grandfather Jean Verney-Carron at the beginning of the 20th century. When the patent expired and fell in the public field, a lot of gunmakers from Saint-Etienne adopted the system for their own use." He listed several brand names derived from "Helice" that were used by VC. One of those he listed was Heliduplex.
