The stock of the 20's era R framed gun will likely be slimmer in the wrist, and the Marlin era gun could have the Single Sighting Plane, or raised solid top rib (a feature not available in the 20's)
Tom, regarding the top rib availability, my 1925 16 ga. FWE Field Grade has what I would think is the raised solid rib. It was completed on my birthday (month and day, not year.
) in '25, according to the information I was provided by the former owner, a LCSCA member.
I'm in the field today but will post a clear picture of the barrels and top rib this evening here. Maybe you could help me resolve what seems to me to be conflicting information.
