About once a year Ted likes to remind us here of the “simple pleasures” of a Nitro Special. These guns have a similar pleasure to them. I have one of those 16ga Springfield’s and I refer to it as a kitchen gun. Lots of similar guns put many a meal on the tables of Midwest farmhouses as well as being a reliable deterrent to varmints of both the four legged and the two legged variety.

(BTW my dad always wanted a SxS and before he retired he saved up enough to buy a 20 ga Model B. It was stolen along with all his guns before he put a box of shells through it. Although he worked his whole life spare money was always hard to come by. The loss of his guns was pretty demoralizing to him as he knew he’d never be able to replace them.)
