Classic Doubles
What's a "CLASSIC DOUBLES"? In 1987, when Olin Corp. decided to get the rest of the way out of the gun manufacturing business (after having sold the New Haven, Conn. operations to U.S. Repeating Arms), they sold their Japanese factory to a newly formed company - Classic Doubles International. This new firm continued using the same factory, machinery, people, tooling, and designs to produce their versions of the 101, mechanically near identical, but cosmetically different. Most mechanical parts of the C.D. are identical and interchangeable with the Winchester. Quality and workmanship levels are essentially the same. Due to lack of sufficient sales volume to support the operations, they went bankrupt after about 2 years. Due to limited production of Classic Doubles guns, they are becoming as sought after as the Winchester versions (some variations even more so!).

CLASSIC DOUBLES “Waterfowl” FIELD O/U 12 ga. PROTOTYPE # 1 - (European version) 30" Winchoked barrels, tapered 8mm to 6mm wide solid rib, polished blue finish, 3" chambers, brass front sight bead, .732” bores, jeweled monobloc & ejectors. Flat sided forend with fingergrooves, “push button” front forend release (only one of these I’ve ever seen), hand engraved escutcheons. Game scene hand engraved silver receiver (mallard on left, teal on right, geese on bottom) with raised side panels. Checkered face offset trigger that has an adjacent slot for barrel selector, “scalloped” trigger guard for right hander has serial number engraved. Flat knob pistol grip stock with blued steel grip cap. satin poly finished AA+ figured wood, 14 9/16" pull over brown .8” thick Decelarator pad. 99% blue & wood finish, does have 2 medium sized handling dings in buttstock. This is a NON-FUNCTIONING gun – the insides of the receiver are not completely machined, and there are no parts installed that wouldn’t normally be visible. It is sold as a collectors item only. 7 lb 12 oz. S/N PW2-001E (P= ”prototype”, W = “Waterfowl”, 2 = 12 gauge, 001 is serial number sequence, E = imported into E St Louis).

Handguns & Rifles

MISTRAL 7000 (Golden Eagle 7000 clone) bolt rifle - .375 H&H caliber. These were contract manufactured by Nikko on the Golden Eagle design for Mistral (history unknown) in the late 1970’s; reportedly only 50 such guns were made. 26” barrel, bright polished blue, Williams open sights, drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Two cross-bolt reinforcing lugs, hinged floorplate, capacity of 3 in magazine, jeweled bolt. Walnut Monte Carlo stock with cheekpiece, matte oil finish, 14 15/16” LOP over 1” Golden Eagle recoil pad, Golden Eagle head in plastic pistol grip cap, 20 LPI Skipline checkering, sling studs. Here’s the kicker: All Golden Eagle rifles had a patent number marked, which is erroneous, as it refers to a set trigger mechanism, which those rifles never had. This one has the set trigger. Activated by pushing the wide trigger shoe forward, thus exposing a small set trigger in the middle of the shoe. 99% used condition with one ding at the inside of the pistol grip. 9 lb 8 oz. Ser. No. N025680. Nikko clamshell hard case included.
